Mark Wiernusz is a managing director at DMGroup. In this role, Mark leads consulting projects across several practice areas including strategic planning and human capital, having worked with more than one hundred school districts across the nation to date. In these projects, he works closely with district leadership teams to implement best practices and drive continuous improvement.
Mark has experience partnering with districts of all sizes and types to tackle their biggest challenges and deliver lasting results for students, staff, and the district’s community. Recently, Mark worked with a district enrolling more than 55,000 students to implement a rigorous process for identifying school success, intended to improve school performance and foster alignment to district goals. He has also assisted a large urban school district with developing a comprehensive Human Capital strategy that ensures all schools are staffed with highly effective teachers. Mark has also worked with more than 50 different districts ranging in size from just a few thousand students to tens of thousands of students to conduct special education opportunity reviews and align special education practices to best practices.
Prior to joining DMGroup, Mark was a senior engagement manager at L.E.K. Consulting, a global strategic management consulting firm where he managed engagements across a variety of industries and practice areas. He also previously served as a captain in the U.S. Army and a helicopter aviator pilot-in-command, where his responsibilities included serving as a training officer for a 2,000+ member aviation brigade and planning and executing joint air-to-ground urban combat operations during Operation Iraqi Freedom.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Engineering Management from West Point and a Master of Business Administration from the Wharton School of Business.
