Our Commitment to Privacy

Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy, District Management Group (“DMGroup”, “we” or “us”) provides this Privacy Policy to explain the information privacy practices of www.dmgroupk12.com (the “Site”) and the choices that you can make about the way that we collect, use and disclose information.

Except where otherwise expressly indicated in this Privacy Policy or on the Site, this Privacy Policy applies only to information collected on the Site and does not apply to information collected outside of the Site. Before using or submitting information to the Site, please review this Privacy Policy carefully.

Certain areas of the Site contain information, software or services (collectively, “Services”) intended only for users who register for it ("Registered Users") and we reserve the right to limit access to Services to Registered Users. This Privacy Policy addresses our privacy practices for general use of the Site, as well as the use of the Site by Registered Users.

  1. Information We Collect. DMGroup collects the following types of information from users of the Site:
    1. Personal Information: “Personal Information” is any information that could be used to identify a specific person. DMGroup may receive and store Personal Information provided on or through the Site, such as when a user registers to become a DMGroup member, downloads one of our publications, applies for a job via email or participates in user posting areas, such as bulletin boards, discussion forums, and surveys. Personal Information may include name, mailing address, e-mail address, job title, school/school district affiliation, telephone number and any information on a resume submitted to DMGroup via email.
    2. Non-Personal Information. DMGroup collects certain information that users do not visibly enter, such as IP address, browser, browsing pattern on the Site and clickstream (“Non-Personal Information”). Non-Personal Information allows DMGroup to enhance your experience and better support your needs but it is not stored in a manner that is personally identifiable with you.
    3. Non-Personal Information is collected primarily through the use of “cookies”. A “cookie” is a small file or tool stored on your hard drive containing information that allows us to deliver customized information to you. You may set your browser to notify you of or decline the receipt of cookies but, if your browser is configured to disable cookies, certain features of the Site may not function properly or be available to you. We use both "session" and "persistent" cookies on this Site. Session cookies are temporary bits of information that are erased once you exit your web browser or turn off your computer. Persistent cookies are more permanent bits of information that are placed on the hard drive of your computer and stay there unless you delete the cookie. They store information on your computer for a number of reasons, such as helping to determine what areas of the Site you find most valuable.   2. How We Use Information. 
    1. We use your Personal Information to fulfill your requests for information, to evaluate any job applications or other employment-related inquiries that you submit and/or for such other business purposes as you may request.
    2. We may use non-identifying and aggregate information to perform statistical analyses to improve the design of our website and provide a better user experience.
    3. DMGroup may use the Personal Information that you provide when registering to become a Registered User and when using areas of the Site that are accessible only to Registered Users (“Registered User Areas”)to send you information about Registered User benefits, features included in the Registered User Areas and other information that DMGroup believes is relevant and useful to its Registered Users. DMGroup also may use your Personal Information to send you periodic emails and newsletters with information about DMGroup’s products and services, updates to the Site or upcoming events. DMGroup does not sell mailing lists (names and mailing addresses) and e-mail addresses of Registered Users to third parties.
    4. DMGroup may use your Personal Information to send you important administrative information regarding the Site and Services or changes to this privacy policy. We may use collected information to enforce our agreements with you, to prevent fraud and other prohibited or illegal activities and for other legally permissible purposes.
    5. We never use or share your Personal Information other than as described above without also providing you with an opportunity to opt-out or otherwise prohibit such unrelated uses.
  3. Disclosure of Information that We Collect. We will not disclose, share, sell or trade your Personal Information to or with any third party other than as follows:
    1. Fulfillment: We may disclose any information, including, without limitation, Personal Information, to third parties that perform services for us, such as payment and credit card processors and fulfillment companies and/or any of their authorized agents to ensure that they can process your payment and deliver the products that you ordered to the address that you provided and process your requests to participate in conferences and events. Those third parties are not authorized to use or disclose Personal Information that you provide to us on or through this Site for any purpose other than to perform the services designated by us. Information that you provide directly to these third parties is governed by their respective information privacy policies and not ours.
    2. Compliance with Law and Fraud Protection: We may disclose any information, including, without limitation, Personal Information, we deem necessary, in our sole discretion and without your prior permission, to comply with any applicable law, regulation, legal process or governmental request. DMGroup reserves the right to disclose Personal Information of a user who we believe is in violation of this Privacy Policy of the Site’s or in order to protect or defend DMGroup’s rights or property, even without a subpoena, warrant or other court order.
    3. Sale or Transfer of Information: In the event of a sale, merger, liquidation, dissolution or sale or transfer of substantially all of the assets of DMGroup or the Site, Personal Information and/or other information collected about you from the Site may be sold, assigned or transferred to the party acquiring all or substantially all of the equity and/or assets of DMGroup or the Site in order to permit the party to continue the operation of the Site. By using the Site and submitting your information to us, you consent to the sale and transfer of your information as described in this paragraph.
    4. Except as described above, we will not disclose your Personal Information to third parties unless you consent.
  4. Our Commitment to Data Security. We have put in place appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures and accepted technology standards that are intended to safeguard and secure the information collected on or through the Site. Only authorized personnel are provided access to Personal Information and these personnel are required to treat this information as confidential.
  5. How You Can Access or Correct Your Information. 
    1. DMGroup respects the privacy of your Personal Information. If you tell us that you do not wish to have this information used as a basis for further contact with you, we will respect your wishes. You also may choose not to provide us with certain information but you may then be unable to use certain features of the Site.
    2. You can access and modify all your Personal Information by clicking your log-in name at the top of any page when you are logged in. You also may unsubscribe from our mailing list by clicking the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our emails. 
    3. To protect your privacy and security, we also will take reasonable steps to verify your identity before granting access or making corrections.
  6. Our Commitment to Children's Privacy. Protecting the privacy of children is especially important to DMGroup. The Site is not intentionally designed for or directed at children who are age 13 years or younger and we will not intentionally collect or maintain information about any user under age 13. We require that only adults use our Site. By using the Site, you hereby represent that you are at least the age of majority or older in your place of residence.
  7. Third Party Links. The Site may include links to third-party websites. Please be aware that we cannot control and are not responsible for the information collection practices of other websites even if a link appears to a third-party website from the Site. We encourage you to review and understand the privacy policies of these websites before providing any information to or through them.
  8. Modifications to this Privacy Policy. We may occasionally update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices. When we post modifications to this Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Last Revised” date at the bottom of this web page. The modified Privacy Policy will be effective immediately upon posting on the Site. We recommend that you check the Site from time to time to inform yourself of any change in this Privacy Policy or any of our other policies. Your continued use of the Site after the posting of the modified Privacy Policy constitutes your agreement to abide and be bound by it. If you object to any modification, your sole recourse is to stop using the Site.
  9. Other Information
    1. California Residents. If you are a resident of California, in addition to the rights set forth in this Privacy Policy, you have the right to request information from us regarding the manner in which we share certain categories of personal information with third parties for their direct marketing purposes. As stated above, however, we do not collect or share your Personal Information.
    2. Visiting the Site from Outside the United States. The Site is hosted in the United States and is governed by United States law. If you are visiting the Site from outside the United States, please be aware that information may be transferred to, stored and processed in the United States where our servers are located and our central database is operated. The data protection and other laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as those in your country. By using the Site, you consent to the transfer of your information to our facilities as described in this Privacy Policy.
    3. No Rights of Third Parties. This Privacy Policy does not create rights enforceable by third parties.
