DMG CEO John J-H Kim as a featured speaker at the Forum on Student-Based Budgeting in San Juan (PR)

We are excited to share that John J-H Kim, DMG CEO, Founder, and Harvard Business School professor, was a featured speaker at the Forum on Student-Based Budgeting in San Juan, Puerto Rico this week. The event, hosted by the Puerto Rico Education Initiative (PREI), brought together public and education sector leaders to explore a critical question: How can we allocate school resources more fairly and effectively?

John Kim joined a distinguished panel that included Senator Ángel Toledo-López, Secretary of Education Lcdo. Eliezer Ramos Parés, and Kelvin Roldán, Ed.L.D. of Amira Learning.

John Kim shared how student-based budgeting (SBB) represents a significant shift from traditional models that rely on staffing estimates and salary averages. Instead, SBB allocates funding based on actual student enrollment and specific educational needs, creating a more equitable and transparent approach to school resourcing. By ensuring students with similar needs receive comparable funding, SBB helps districts advance equity, increase flexibility, and improve accountability.

DMGroup has supported dozens of districts nationwide in adopting and implementing SBB to better align resources with student needs.
