Last week, members of the DMG team attended two conferences on the Gulf Coast of Alabama, the School Superintendents of Alabama (SSA) conference and the Alabama Association of School Boards (AASB) conference, to spotlight the powerful impact of the Breakthrough Results (BTR) Program and the academic gains achieved by partner districts across the state.
SSA is a non-profit professional organization uniting Alabama’s superintendents and school system leaders in the pursuit of educational excellence. At SSA’s annual summer conference, superintendents, their cabinet members, state officials, and education partners came together to exchange ideas, strengthen their leadership, and collaborate on strategies to advance student success.
DMGroup co-hosted a reception with Dr. Mark Sullivan, Superintendent of Birmingham City Schools, and Dr. Clarence Sutton, Superintendent of Huntsville City Schools, to highlight the academic growth their districts have achieved through DMG’s Breakthrough Results Program.
Later in the week, the DMG team participated in the AASB Summer Conference, which centered on legal guidance for school leaders and professional learning and networking for board members. Founded in 1949, AASB supports 139 school boards and nearly 2,000 members statewide through training, resources, and advocacy.
DMG and Birmingham City Schools hosted a second reception, co-led by Superintendent Sullivan and Board President Jason Meadows. The event spotlighted the district’s strong gains in literacy and math over the past two years, achieved in partnership with DMG. Dr. Sullivan and Mr. Meadows noted that the program not only improved student outcomes but also shifted school culture—cultivating belief in students’ potential and strengthening staff confidence to support every learner.
